Calibishie – Champs of the 2014 Primary Schools 10/10 Cricket Festival
Calibishie has emerged Winner of the 1st ever Primary Schools 10/10 Cricket Festival organized by the Sports Division in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Calibishie Primary School proved that its team was a tough one to beat after topping the North East Zone in the preliminary festival that was held on June 5th and then securing its place in the finals with the Soufriere Primary School when the knock-out round was held on Wednesday, June 25th at the Botanic Gardens.
The Final was held on Tuesday, July 1st at Calibshie in a fun-filled and exciting atmosphere as the crowd cheered the home team.
Soufriere Primary batted first and scored 65 for 8 in their ten (10) overs.
Bowling for Calibishie Primary – Dequan Gilkes took 1 wicket for 18 runs, Edgar Alexander took 2 wickets for 13 runs and Isaac Toussaint took 2 wickets for 4 runs.
Calibishie then went in to bat and scored 67 runs for 4. Rashad Francis top scored with 26 runs. Bowling for Soufriere Primary were Joel Lewis – 2 for 11 in two overs and Malaki Xavier – 1 for 3 in two overs.
The Sports Division organized this additional festival to give the young cricketers more playing time and exposure. .
