2015 Secondary Schools Athletics Championships – Day 1

20150310_150307Day 1 of the Secondary Schools Athletics Championships organized by the Sports Division was successfully completed on March 10, 2015 at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.

We have attached the school points tally and results from Day 1.

The boys of PCSS and NECS are presently tied in first position after day 1 with 42 points followed by DGS and ITSS both with 23 points.

The girls of PCSS have a lead of 17 points on NECS (68 – 51). PSS is in third position with 34 points.  

The following 4 Championship Records were broken on Day 1:

Ø  Derick St. Jean of DSC broke the 400m U-21 Championship record by 0.2 secs when he ran 49.8 secs in Heat # 3. The old record of 50.0s was set by the legendary Bruce Phillip which he held for over 30 years (1984).

Ø  Josh Toussaint of ITSS broke 2 records:  Shot Put U-17 with 14. 73m (his 2014 record  was14.09m) and Discus U-17 with a throw of 40.10m (the old record was set in 2013 by Raheem Joseph NECS – 37.16m)

Ø  Lizanne Roach of PCSS   broke the Discus U-17 Record with a throw of 25.63m (she set the last record of 23.65m which she threw in 2014)                   

Day 2 (Wednesday 11th March)will commence at 12 Noon the event will  go into the early evening under the lights
