23rd Schools Sports Awards is on this Saturday

The Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Constituency Empowerment will host the   23rd Schools Sports Awards on Saturday, July 4, 2015 from 10:00 am at the Main Auditorium of the Dominica State College in Stock Farm.

A number of students and schools will be presented with trophies and plaques for their sporting achievements during the 2014/15 academic year.

The awards will be given for all the championships held under the auspices of the Sports Division.   The Division held competitions in:

  • Table Tennis
  • Basketball
  • Track & Field
  • Football
  • Cricket
  • Volleyball
  • Netball

Mr. Pellam Jno Baptiste, former national opening batsman, cricket administrator and Sergeant of Police, will be the featured Guest Speaker at the event. 

Other dignitaries who are expected to address the function are the Sports Coordinator – Mr. Trevor Shillingford, Member of Parliament for the Roseau North Constituency – Hon. Daniel Lugay and the Minister for Youth, Sports, Culture and Constituency Empowerment – Hon. Justina Charles.

The event will be held under the themeSport – a gateway to positivity”.

Over two hundred (200) awards will be presented to the deserving schools and students
